We have arrived in Cairo!
No photos, since we arrived late this afternoon and we're absolutely pooped! We were picked up at 3:45 am by the airport shuttle and had great flights from Rome to Zurich, and Zurich to Cairo. Swiss Air has the best food we've ever had on a plane - great trip.
Our guide Haani met us at the airport and took us in a van back to the hotel. Somehow I accidentally gave the guy who brought our bags up too high a tip. We met with our guide downstairs and when I told him what had happened he immediately called over the bag-carrier and got back all the tip! A little awkward, but I feel like the tour guide is our advocate! He wrote down how much to tip the guide and the driver and told me not to pay a penny more.
We went over the tour - we're definitely sleeping overnight on the felucca! All is ready:) We just need a really really good night's sleep before we hit the pyramids tomorrow.
The second guide Samuel told us not to drink the hotel bottles of water - that there was a supermarket just a couple of shops down were we could buy them at a quarter of the cost of the hotel water. We had a lovely time at the supermarket. A couple of ladies were very friendly. We stocked up on food for the train trip tomorrow night. We've heard it's very likely you'll get sick if you eat the train food. We'll stay healthy by eating poptarts and oreos.
Tomorrow morning we meet our guide and go off to the pyramids. The internet is great at the hotel. We have two hours in the afternoon between the pyramids and the overnight train trip, so I should be able to upload pictures then. After that - not sure how long it will be!
