We made it!

We arrived in Hong Kong last night at about 6pm, after a great Qantas flight. These are my first impressions:
  • very very very crowded! David said stepping out in Causeway Bay was like going into the showbag pavillion at the ekka.
  • very warm, like Brisbane in January, but not as humid, although people have told me that it gets much worse.
  • friendly - everyone we've had contact with has been very helpful and friendly
  • hilly - as we drove around the island this afternoon, I was amazed by how hilly it is - you can't see it on Google Earth.

Our relocation consultant drove us around the island, and orientated us at Stanley - it's so gorgeous. It was lovely to smell the sea air when we got out of the car. The appartment is beautiful - spectacular views, and it's large - 1800 square feet.

We are unsure about the bed situation - I refuse to sleep on chipboard, but we haven't found many solid wood beds...

I am exhausted and think I'll hop into bed with my Deadly Hallows. Tomorrow morning will be another spectacular breakfast at the buffet, downstairs.

Thanks for posting photos. Hope you have sorted out the bed situation by now, and that you are starting to feel rested......nah, I reckon it will take a while to come back down to earth, too many new things, to feel rested and calm I think!

I am rereading the last HP book so I can read the new one with 'fresh' prior knowledge.......as I read so much I often forget details of books. How are you enjoying the new book so far?

Trocadero? There used to be a nightclub in Sydney from about 1930 (~) up till around late 1960 called Trocadero. From what the locals said, it was a pretty wild place till very late at night or early morning - sometimes very late morning too! There's probably nightclubs called Trocadero all over the place but this one had springs under the dance floor - don't know if that's common too. I would sure like to see more pictures of what you are all up to or where you've been. When you arrived in Hong Kong, were there wizards and other magical creatures wandering the streets? It seemed that way from here in the Deep South. We believe some of what they tell us in the news. Mum and Kath are both fine. Me too. Don't buy any beds made from MDF (some sort of artificial timber) - It's not good for you!

Thanks for the update on the edibles. Most important! The Krispy Kremes sound amazing. Now need details of all new furniture. How did you go with bedding. Did you buy all new or take it with you? I was just thinking it would be like a fantasty having ALL NEW EVERYTHING!

Okay Nightingales, that's two days now and no new word of culinary delights and new furniture purchases. It's killing us over here already! Time to get to it with that camera and let them fingers do the typing. Stick one of them teenagers on it in need.... Lots of love, Lizzie
